The synergy between enzymes and biosurfactants to optimize costs

Rising cost of raw materials and the subsequent impact on production remains a prime challenge in livestock production. Coupled with the increases in energy and transport costs, it forces many producers to continuously assess their business processes and seek beyond their current practice for new ways to secure a healthy profitability. Improving feed efficiency is one of the key goals.

Enhancing feed efficiency

Exogenous enzymes are almost ubiquitous in monogastric production as a tool to enhance feed efficiency, having undisputed benefits in allowing animals to access and utilise nutrients and mitigating the impact of anti-nutritional factors. They allow nutritionists also, considering the high cost of many feed materials, to explore alternative, less digestible but economically more favourable and often more locally produced hence more sustainable, ingredients.  However, with today’s complex nature of a diet, the approach of using only enzymes, may not be sufficient to tackle the challenge of optimizing animal performance a lower feed cost. Improved degradation of the feed components does not automatically equal better absorption of the released nutrients by the animal for maximum utilization and growth. Nutrient absorption enhancers are the missing link: in addition to supporting the digestion of the dietary fat matrix for a better energy intake, they directly enhance the absorption capacity of the intestine supporting the uptake of essential nutrients. As such, adding a NAE ‘on top’ of enzymes, allows you to obtain not only the maximum potential out of your feed, but also to achieve the maximum benefit of any additional enzymes added.

A nutritional strategy

Application of a nutritional strategy combining KEMZYME® Plus, a multi-enzyme solution specifically designed to ensure optimal digestion of complex diets and LYSOFORTE® EXTEND, a unique nutrient absorption enhance, therefore offers a holistic solution to the current industry challenge. Together they can optimize diet costs and improve feed efficiency at the same time maximizing your business profitability.
