At EuroTier, we hosted an interactive workshop on Cutting-Edge Solutions for Safe and Efficient Feed Processing. ***Session Outline***** — Cutting-Edge Solutions for Safe and Efficient Feed Processing **

This session provided practical solutions to prevent contamination and improve feed processing efficiency. Participants learned to identify and mitigate risks such as Salmonella contamination, explore advanced feed technologies, and gain insights into improving profitability and sustainability through process optimisation. We also showcasedcutting-edge tools and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and contamination-free feed production.

# Recap — Key Topics We Covered

**Feed Safety**** **

We demonstrated how effective sampling is crucial in detecting Salmonella and maintaining feed safety. Through an interactive game, participants saw the importance of increasing sampling points to improve accuracy. Additionally, we showcased Kemin’s Automated Sample Taker, which ensures reliable and consistent sampling, reducing human error and improving quality control.  
**Key takeaway: **More sampling points increase the chances of detecting contaminants like Salmonella, reducing risks.

**Feed Efficiency**

We discussed how energy costs impact feed pellet production and introduced Kemin’s millSMART™ programme, which helps optimise energy use, reduce waste, and increase efficiency. Using a moisture sensor demo, participants saw how real-time adjustments can save up to €10 per tonne of feed.  
**Key takeaway: **Energy optimisation boosts profitability and sustainability, reducing the environmental footprint of feed production.

**The Surfactant Bridge**

We explored how surfactants, when blended with liquid antimicrobials, improve the distribution of active ingredients in feed, making it easier to eliminate contaminants like Salmonella. This technology ensures better coverage and enhances the effectiveness of antimicrobial products, promoting safer feed.  
**Key takeaway:** Improved distribution through surfactants makes feed processing more efficient and contamination control more reliable.
